Only in 2018, folks! Ahhhh this is great. There’s nothing like seeing “well thought out” and articulated points made on Twitter by the WWE Universe. This time, the topic of conversation is the news that the WWE is making the decision to extend PPVs an additional hour. Apparently this is a major issue with the wrestling community because a lot of them supposedly have jobs within the business and this directly impacts their work/life balance. OH THE HORROR!!!
I seriously feel for these people. Ya know, as I sit here, before work, writing this blog because I enjoy it, I can’t help but think about the victims of this tragic announcement. How will they cope with losing that one hour from their day? How will they cope with the indentation that their couch will endure due to the added stress on its soft exterior on a Sunday night? I tell ya, the WWE is ruthless. They have no respect. THESE PEOPLE HAVE FAMILIES, VINCE!
Now that I think about it, I think I’ll walk into work today and demand that my work day be cut in half. I mean, if wrestling fans “in the biz” are taking up issue with “working” 4 hours instead of 3, then maybe I should bring up the fact that I have to work 10 hours a day, commute and have real life responsibilities. It’s kind of messed up for my work to want to make money as a company and then expect that the people that they employ to work substantial hours, am I right?
Ok that was fun. Now, let me channel my inner Lance Storm real quick and if I can be serious for a minute …
Listen guys, going on Twitter and talking about how this affects your “job” as a wrestling whatever the fuck is not a good look. If you’re a fan and complaining, by all means, I’m with ya. I don’t want to watch an extra hour of this stuff either. It’s already long enough and the creative portion of the product is less entertaining than RAW’s Lashley Sisters segment. So let me be clear when I say, I get your frustration there. BUT please, do not go all analytical on this news. The WWE is a business. They have a massive roster and they need to use these guys, hence why we’re getting the extra hour. Also, while I hate the extra hour, I still think it’s better than having a million PPVs a month. This should “hopefully” add to storylines and build. Now, while I doubt that’ll happen because their creative team is the drizzling shits, I’ll have to give them the benefit of the doubt until I see it for myself.
So let’s take a look at this: Would you rather have 2 PPVs a month or only have to lose one Sunday Night a month vs. two? Personally, I’d rather the extra hour and save myself from having to explain to my wife why I can’t “watch a show” with her. Trust me, if you’re married, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you don’t get the joke, then just stay single.
As for the PPVs and how I’ll approach the extra hour of pain, I still think it sucks and I’ll zone out of a match or two, but at the end of the day, things could be worse. So please, stop talking about how this is going to bring extra stress into your busy work week. It’s pro wrestling and I hate to break it to you, but you’re not actually employed by the WWE. There’s also a bazillion ways to find out what happened, fast forward, rewind, pause or just shut the damn thing off.
